Driveshaft destruction
Dad had an auto/truck repair shop which I helped at from 13.
We bought and sold mostly pick ups as there was a lot of construction in our area.
The used car sales manager was a friend at the local Ford dealer.  One day while he was looking at a few trucks and haggling the guy said "hey if you buy that truck I will throw in that 57 wagon in the back of the lot"!
It was a Country Sedan white over light green,ps,pb, 292 auto,a roof rack and factory air. Which I never fixed.  It needed paint and a good cleaning. This was 1963 and I raced Go Karts so the wagon worked out.
One day at a light another Ford pulled up so I started torquing it up, side stepped the brake and then what sounded like a tornado going through a home improvement store.  The shaft parted about 1' from the pinion, slung around and tore the mid section off and slammed around. I never found the mid section.   Dad thought it was pretty hilarious when it was being towed with our wrecker.

OUCH! Lucky it didn't come through the floorboards.
What ever happened to the car?

After about 3 years a 59 White 4 door hard top Galaxy, 332/ auto factory air that worked showed up from the same dealer with a blown piston.  It was love at first site.  I put a piston in it and we painted it,  put the wagon out front and some one bought it.
The 59 was a perfect dating car.  When I left for the Navy in 65 it was sold to a friend of the family who ran a stop light and it got totaled. A sad ending.
I have a D code 57 Fairlane club coupe white over yellow being delivered here in about 3 weeks. Hoping it is still a 312.

mustang6984

I'm gonna guess it is still a 312...unless it was swapped out.

You are not the only one. I am having a hard time unseeing it. Not sure there are enough eye drops in the world to clean that put of my eyes!   :-\  :-[  :o

In other news I got the free fordoor running. But the driveline is sketchy.  Also wiring was bad.

:003: Good for you! By sketchy you mean the engine is weak or the transmission or both?

Just picked up this new project car, it will be for my wife, it's a nice '67 that runs and drives. It'll be a while before I can start on it, but it was just too nice to pass up.

When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

Wow!!! that's an awesome car..it can't need much.
We all have had cars we wish we still had. One of the cars on my list was a 67 Cougar GT (390). Mine was dark green, don't even have a pic of it.....back when I got it, it was just another used car in Socal. Unfortunately I needed a dependable commuter, and it wasn't, so didn't keep it long.
So much classier than it's Mustang brother.

Abe......you commented on the video posted a few days ago (comment since deleted?) that we need to keep AI pics and videos off of this forum. You got me thinking, and I just wanted to let you and other the members know I totally agree. Lets keep AI off this forum. Others may want to comment.
I should also state that I wasn't offended by it, I took it in the humorous vein it was meant to be, so, that's why  I did not delete it.
Like many others, I find AI pics and videos to be very scary at the least. It's so hard to tell what's real and what is not. It's got to be a nightmare to explain this stuff to kids, A kid growing up in these times won't know what to believe, and  I hope governments everywhere will pass laws to outlaw or control it on the internet. Leave it for the movies!

Sold this 67 last spring. GT s-code auto. It needed a full restoration but was a complete, running driving car. For what I sold the Cougar for it would be half of what a same year Mustang fastback would fetch.
