RMK57 - Randy,
You said you have been driving your Boss 429 again.  Seeing you are evacuated along with the 12,000 neighbours in the Summerland wildfire, you could bring it here and I can look after it for you.
If you need anything, let me know.

Awesome pic and black beauties, Jeff !
Would you mind posting a pic of the Meteor, where we can see the full side trim ? it appears to be quite different from the US 300 Version.

Quote from: Jeff Norwell on 2026-08-09 10:55Met up with my friend Greg yesterday. He has the 57 Meteor. A perfect example of what was offered in the Niagara version (A 300 custom)
A great running 272 version with the complete trim package.
Only about 6900 made in 57 at the Ford Plant in Oakville Ontario.(still producing Fords today)

We met up at the Leslie Motors, for the  Ford and Merc show ... which is held annually.
Don Leslie is 3rd Gen of the family owned Ford Dealerships..... this one in Harriston Ontario is a 100 years old.
Don and his family are great people and friends of ours.

anyhow.... we hung out for a few hours and headed back to my shop to Bench race. fun day.

Hey G. sure thing,..... the Niagara 300 has more trim.. all the Canadian Meteors did.. any year actually. What so noice about Greg's Meteor is it is an actual time piece... aside from the Cragars and front disc brake set up.. its pretty much in stock form.. exterior and interior.
The car was built in Oakville Ontario.. then led the majority of its life out west in BC(which probably saved it) then was sold at some point and went to the East coast in New Brunswick to a Ford collector....
I remember when it came up for sale online... lots of people were talking about it....
Greg mentioned he is a member here... but rarely posts....
Real nice man....

Here are some shots.....

Thank you, Jeff, it looks WILD ! very similar, but so different.
I think it is great that your friend is keeping Canadian history alive. Those small differences are really interesting. I am going to study the pics, just for enjoying all the different 57 Fords ! Sorry, Meteors...  :003:

and by the way, Greg,  I just love the license plate OLBLKBTY....well that is real good ! :001:

Terry, we decided to stay put in our home rather than evacuate. The police have arrested a few looters already and that's part of the reason for us not leaving. Also once you leave you're not allowed back in Summerland without a permit. The fires are pushed back and they're allowing homeowners to come back to their homes in sections of the town at a time. Good thing to, I'm running low on beer.

Have a solution for the looters. Take them fishing about 1/2 way toward Port Angeles. Come back alone. Strait of Juan de Fuca is a deep hole.

Sounds much like a catch and release system in Washington, the same as in BC for criminals.

Yea...pretty much. One of the reasons after 48+ years I vacated the place in '20. I actually miss Vancouver Island more than WA state.

I thought it was against the Hippocratic Oath for doctors to get sick?!  :laughing7:

I have a close friend who blew out his knee 40 years ago. The doctor patched it back together and he was told it was better to live with it as long as possible before considering a knee replacement... he looked into the replacement a few years ago and found his doctor had died. Malpractice??? He is still living with it.

Yea...back in July or so of '78 my left knee and the 2 doors and their center post came together courtesy of a motorcycle accident. The bike never touched the car, just that knee. well over $600 in damages in 1978. (over $3k today's dollars) Patched it together with nothing more than ice and compression wraps for a few weeks. Today...it at times wakes up to call me nasty names...but so far... ;D ...avoided the replacement.
Last time on a motorcycle too.

I am pretty sure I have my '57 sold. He has been telling me for 3 months he was going to have some spare cash available at the end of August. He called today to tell me he'd have the cash Tuesday. He hasn't driven it yet, will come over some time this weekend for us to take it out. It's gonna be a sad day Tuesday watching it go down the road without me in it. He is local, so I'll probably see it occasionally.

Sad week with the passing of Dolly Parton. I had no idea of the extent of her philanthropy. You have to be someone pretty special for the English Royal Family to do the Royal Guard tribute they did....and all these landmark locations here doing themselves up in pink. Hard to keep a dry eye watching this stuff.

Don't know if we should congratulate or cry for you.  There were two cars I built that caused a tear to roll down my cheek.  The 62 T-bird and the 58 Edsel Pacer.  I miss the Edsel the most. As time passes it still brings pangs to me, should have kept it.

Dolly's passing has moved me a surprising amount.  Not sure why, just had me on the verge when the news came over the radio as I was driving home from Copperas Cove, TX.  She was a great entertainer, kind human and really funny!    Elvis was the only other "famous" person that moved me, just not as much as her.
