Hey, she married me!
When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

Actually...from our discussions in the past...I'm pretty sure might actually have been a wash as to which was most benefited. JMHO.  :002:

I replaced the sticky, curling dash pad, peeling shifter handle, the pitted chrome AC controls and registers, the peeling turn signal stalk, the faded chrome bezels and fogged gauge lenses and added a nice wooden rimmed wheel:

That steering wheel is a nice fit.  It looks like it belongs.  Factory air car, which I hope works, or you are fixing?

Thanks guys, and yes, it's a 1967 Base with AC. I will be removing the old Four Seasons AC compressor and and system and replacing with a modern Sanden unit and Vintage Air system.

Joe...any chance that Vintage could use the casing of the original Four Seasons unit and install the modern components to make it look like original equipment? I have heard they can do that sort of thing.

Possibly, but I'm not going for the OEM type restoration; it'll end being more like my Torino (someday), a kind of mild RestoMod look.

Vintage Air GEN IV and V use stepper motors instead of cables to open and close the doors.  VA offers "cable convertors" to install in the original AC controls so the AC appears as OE.

CobraJoe

Correct and that is the plan; fortunately, the Cougar controls are very similar to the Mustang controls.

As a former A/C / refrigeration mechanic I wish you luck.  I hope you weighed all your options before making your decision.

May I ask why?
I installed a Gen V Vintage Air system in my Torino with no issues.

It might turn into more work than just fixing what you have properly.  On the other hand some people want to clear off the firewall, and run their own wiring.   Either way.  If I have a factory air car, I just think it adds a little something to the end result to have the factory air.  Just my preferance. Old Air Products sells a lot of replacement parts for cars.  Mopars, there is another place, but the name escapes me right now.

If you go Vintage Air you will not need to run cleaner through the system to flush it, nor will you need to change the oil.

Thanks Gene, my lines are more along a RestMod more than a complete restoration, much like my Fairlane Torino.
