Another Steering Wheel/Horn Question-57 Merc to 57 Ford

I have a friend who has a very nice 57 2 door sedan(Fairlaine) and he wanted to use the beautiful 57 Mercury steering wheel on his 57 Ford.
I am not certain, but I believe the spline count on the wheel and the Ford Column will match... but then there is the horn question. As we know a stock 57 Ford horn wiring travels straight up through the centre of the steering shaft.
I have no idea how a 57 Merc is wired ...... but looking on the underside of the 57 Merc wheel.... the horn contact seems to be on the outside... not the centre like a 57 Ford.I personally do not have a 57 Merc Manuel.
Anyone ever seen this done before or any solutions?

Thanks guys.

It doesn't look to me that it has the provision for a button contact so I would assume the wire goes down a hollow steering column. I have a '59 horn contact plate type switch in my car and the cancelling cam is different than the one on a '57 which is the same as the one on the Mercury wheel in the picture. (They do interchange.)

I'm going to say no.  Found this link, scroll down to page 17, the horn section.  Sounds and looks like the horn is through a wire run down the column housing rather than down the center of the column as the Fords do.

If he has both steering wheels. Maybe he can see if the under do-dads can be switch to the different wheel?  Also you have to check to see if the back of the wheel sits with the same gap when mounted.

I will mention that.I know he has both wheels... I think it needs to go through the same process that Lynn was mentioning and such....I will forward all this info to him
