Ford Blue blood

I'm with you guys on that as well.  I've long held that every car on the track (NASCAR) should have OEM sheet metal minus the nose and rear spoiler.  NASCAR can provide those to the teams.

I admit I do listen on the radio in the shop, but mostly it is back ground noise.  I did send an email to them recommending that a way to increase viewers and attendance would be to have more comercials, raise the hotel rates to three times insted of just double and raise the ticket prices to over 100 each for the cheap seats instead of the 35 they are now.  Never got an answer back.....

Ford actually does really well at NHRA stock/super stock racing with their Cobra-jet racing program.
Although John Force and the rest of the Ford funny car teams may not have the support they did the
stock/super stock teams will. There is a 2014 factory race car and probably will be a 2015 and on...

Nascar just doesn't get it, they are destroying the sport. I'd rather see 150mph stock cars and more independent teams then these high $$$, high tech, totally regulated 200mph pieces of junk that have driven the cost to both teams. sponsors and fans over the wall. There's no room for ingenuity any more it's just become a high $$ IROC series and that was a failure and they didn't learn. It will soon become a sport where only three teams will own all the cars if they can even find enough sponsorship which is also being driven away.

Rant over, back to my coffee :006:

A few of my friends have dirt Modifieds and some still race... the cost in that arena is just as heavy,,,, and laden with horrific rules.
I prefer grass roots style racing on any level.... a lot more fun.

On a different note about models..... ever wonder why you always see photographs on "new" kits?.... cause a years back... some whiner took one of the companies to court professing his model did not turn out like the box art.
he won the case.

He must have been related to the women who sued Scrawny Ronnies for spilling hot coffee all over herself.
Model box art created fantasy and made you want the kit...... now it's some over photoshopped photo .....
anyhow..... my rant is over too....hahahahah

Thinking about Danica reminded me of the last race I went to. We were walking through the trailers were they sell all the team garb and most were almost void of fans except Danicas which had a huge crowd standing in line. What does that tell you about the sport  :005:.
Sorry I didn't see a barf smiley.

Rmk..I love sportsman racing.  When all the other clowns go to the concession stands when the last pro car goes down the track, that's when I want to go to the starting line and watch some real drag racing.  Back when I was young, my absolute favorite classes to watch were Modified Production and Super Stock.  THAT, my friend, was innovation and racing.

here is an idea to make the roundy round interesting (to me anyway)
is one of two ways.
1. have them race in a figure 8.
or
2. at the 1/2 point in the race have them go the other direction.

I started a project a while back, some of you older guys may be interested in it.  I am planning to build, eventually anyway, most of my favorite 57 Fords in scale form.  I have a pretty good sized stash, and am already started on several.  I have the Hoosier Hurricane car about halfway done, just finished the decals for it and another pet project tonight.  That pet is the hard one.  I had an old AMT Fairlane kit that wasnt in great shape.  I bought it off ebay a while back when you could still get deals.  Shipped to me, around 2 bucks.  Anyway, it was mostly complete, molded in that old blue plastic, brush painted flames on the front fenders only.  I stripped the paint, and proceeded to convert the two door hardtop into a four door hardtop.  Scribing the doors wasnt too hard, just took a little while.  A lot of priming and sanding later, it got a bright shiny coat of yellow paint.  The decals I made for it, I either used custom fonts in photoshop, or drew it by hand, scanned and colored it in.  I am pretty proud of the decals, as they look like they are supposed to.  I will take a pic and post here if anyone is interested.  Anyway, the Parham and Payne 57 Ford 4 door ht Fairlane will be done shortly.  Still have to do the chrome foil and the black stripes on the roof, but it is looking like it was made that way.  I plan to hit ebay soon for a resin copy of the station wagon, and also a ranchero kit so I can convert and do Bob Bayles car also...It is fun to mess with this stuff when it's either too cold or wety to be outside.  Any other modelers with 57 Ford stuff, please, post pics.  I would like to do a 57's in scale section in the photo gallery, if I can get enough pictures.  I have about 40 or 50 pics now, from the HAMB, and a couple other model sites I visit.  Yes, I also have a scale version of my last 57, about half done, complete with that ugly friggin hood I put on it.  But it was on it, and I wanted it to look like it, so I made it.  Looks pretty cool too.  I have a resin 300 body, and it will eventually get done, debating on either Steve Peasleys or Frank Rices 300.  I love both of those cars.  Stay tuned for some pictures of my mini-57 projects..

This is the look I am going for...In retrospect, I wish I had a little more orangy yellow than what I have, but it has 2 coats yellow and three clears on it now, and I was afraid it would be a bit much...So, what do you think fellas?

Looking very nice. Where did you get the decals?

JPotter57

I spent about 5 to 6 hours making them in photoshop.  I sat down with photos of both cars, and sorted through fonts until I found what I wanted.  Some of the stuff, like the "FOOORD", I had to hand draw, then scan and color in photoshop.  I got some decal paper from the hobby shop, after I printed them, shot them with clear urethane to seal them.  Now, they will go on just like kit decals. Still have to paint the black stripes on the roof, make side windows for the fordor, then foil all the chrome trim.  I am using the supercharged 312 from the Fireball Roberts stockcar in it...Have plans for that car too.  Gunfighter anyone?
