I had a 62 Thunderbird M series 390 Tri power automatic.

I was forgetting about the early birds Tom, Just had my mind on the 406 packages. Were not all 406 packages a stick version?
Yes,the Bird 390's had a auto.

Rich it was at Decatur swap meet. With the price of used tri powers sitting at $2000 I was thinking of a new one from HP trends. Reconditioned intake and new everything else new was only $2600 if I remember correctly. 57 ford kustom that interior looks good. Im hoping the buckets will look that good in a wagon.

Nice find. There was one factory tri power manifold with provisions for the kick down linkage  it was on the Tbird. In the late 60s ford did have a over the counter trans kick down set up for that manifold , they are hard to find today. You can use lokar cables for the kick down and they look good and work good.
Thats interesting I had never seen one for an auto before, I didn't know any of the Birds had tri power.

Im no expert but the birds had different intakes. all 3 carbs are at the same elevation. regular intakes were at a angle.

Jim,I believe 61-62 Birds had the 390 tri-power option.
Not sure about 63.

Yes the Tbird had the carbs all on the same plain and they also had used a different vacuum location for the pcv .

I never really paid attention to Birds back in the 60's. I see the auto set up also has an anti-stall dashpot set up, something else I had never seen. I'll bet these are really rare.

I found some snapshots of my tri-power set up. I bought it for $125 and sold it a few years later for $250  :005:

I believe that Ford changed in 65', the 64' I have in my car I believe ran 63-64 mdl years. I have seen a lot of Falcon consoles stuck in between galaxie buckets. But, it doesn't stretch forward. the total lenth of my console is 47.5"

Nice looking Buckets and console! Is that console out of a galaxy as well? I am putting 64 T-bird buckets in my Ranchero not sure sure if i am going to use the stock t-bird seat sliders or get some aftermarket ones. The stock sliders look like they lean the seats way back at a funny angle. Did you have to do anything special to mount the Galaxy seat to the floor board?
I have a rust hole in my passanger side inner fender well, It's 58 years old what do you expect?

The console is 64 galaxie also, I had to add a couple extra holes for the track. The one thing you should do(that I didn't) is on the rear of the track you should put a piece of flat stock in between the two back holes on the track, so you can relocate the outer mounting hole location inward. because guess where it falls, right over the frame!

Did you feel like you needed to add any extra plate to the floor or is it thick enought to carry the load?

Other than upholstery, '64-66 Thunderbird seats are the same or very similar to '64 Galaxies.  When I did my floors, aftermarket floor braces were not available.  So I made floor braces and located them to align with Thunderbird buckets.  Bolting them to just the floor may create a tin can effect.

57 Ford Kustom

Gasman is right, if you just bolted them to the floor it will feel like you are buckling the floor every time you move in the seat!
