When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

RICHARDS

HemiDave
Thank  you very much for posting that picture of Richards  drive  It is long gone now and was on Memorial drive
parallel to the Charles River in Cambridge  Mass.  That place brings back very happy memories.  My wife was a car hop there.  I'll show the
picture to to her tomorrow.  Rich was cruising there also at about the same time.  Somehow we never got to meet and talk to each other.
That's  real shame.   Hopefully I'll get to meet Rich some time when he is out here again visiting his family.

From Long Island Drag racing.com:
"That was ''Wild Arnie'' Frank's L.I. Stang hooking 'em up at New York National Speedway (the L.I. in the name stood for Long Island, Frank's home base). Power for the '66 pony car came from a rear-mounted 426 Chrysler wedge engine. Frank's favorite trick as to pull all four wheels off the ground at launch. (note the oversized casters under the back bumper)."

A Merc that looks like a Ranchero? sort of? Those front fenders look a lot different at the eyebrows. Kind of looks like someone tried to make it into a Ranchero...out of a 2-door wagon perhaps?

I think this is of the 1950s Convertible Nascar series. its just a 'vert with a roll cage and 'tonneau cover' added. headlights rings removed, which gives impression of peaked fenders or exeggerated eyebrows, which the 57 Mercs also had, much like our Fords. it's really just a stock car Merc. I like the deep dish wheels and wide tires.

Tallahassee Democrat is probably just what? a newspaper? doesn't mean it is in Tallahassee ?! but maybe still in FL.
is this a Daytona car maybe, at display ?

mustang6984

Yea...now that you said that I can see how it might well be a 'Vert.
