The High River photo is fantastic. Looks like they got the whole town together for anybody who owned a car for a picture.

Mickey Thompson and his 427 Ford FE engine with aluminum hemi heads of his own design.

"Interestingly enough, the bore spacing of the Chrysler, Pontiac, and Ford FE V-8s are quite similar, at 4.562, 4.62, and 4.63 inches, respectively. Another coincidence: All three engines employ a head bolt arrangement with 10 fasteners per bank. The patterns are similar, yet not identical and do not line up, nor do the water passages and other features. So M/T's hemi castings aren't Mopar knockoffs-at most, they could be described as conceptually based on the Chrysler but adapted to different architectures. Rather cleverly, too. The M/T castings do share a few parts with the Chrysler, including the intake rocker arms and valve covers. M/T also marketed aluminum replacement heads for the Chrysler, by the way. They listed at $725 per pair in the '64 M/T catalog, while the Pontiac and Ford heads were $900."

This was downfall of the M/T Hemi head. Looks a piece of crab leg that has to work a 7000 rpm.

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Oh I do remember those one-legged jacks! And hated them too. Used to see them everywhere in junkyards. Haven't seen one in a long time.

Dave...a sedan that weighed 4200+ pounds? WOW! I never thought they were that heavy. My 'Courier weighed that with my 352 in it, and full tank of gas. I thought the sedans were in the low 3000's...like around 32-3400 pounds. Is that normal weight for them then at 4200?

It's actually a Sunliner, and I guess the 383 added to the weight.

There is one in my 57 but it is strictly for display.  I keep a nice scissors jack and blocks of wood all wrapped up and tucked away just in case.

looks like you got the hang of that re-sizing gig! Good pics. I noticed the Safeway distributor building...must have been shot in WA or perhaps B.C. right?
