Just had a quick look at the Wikipedia story on Gene Snow and I had no idea. I agree, life in prison would be too good for him.

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Watch this guy tear through the field from the back of the pack in a dinosaur! Pure 427 sideoiler power at it's finest, screaming past Porsches at 7,000 rpm's, singing all the way...makes me wish I didn't sell my last two 427's a few weeks ago.

Like you guys said, couldn't get my eyes off the tach. especially on the downshifts, he had religiously stuck the pointer to the set 7.4 mark. and that big hunka love would pull anywhere from 2.5 up.... :003:

now I need some sleeping pills or mild tea to calm down. :001:

Thanks guys, it's kinda cool seeing a "lightweight" 3400+ lb. car overtaking cars half it's weight.
When I built my 427 w/Weber 48 IDA's I was very disappointed at first, but after many, many hours of dialing them in with a good friend who raced 427's for many years, I changed my mind.
I think it was about 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning and we had been unsuccessfully tuning them for days, when after about 20 test drives we finally got the jetting and balance right. Know keep in mind, this guy is a national record holder who ran a Pro-Mod Mustang at 7.497 @ 155.08 and had an ERA  dual quad 427 Cobra that belonged to Bob Tasca that was insanely fast. Now he's at the wheel of my Cobra and punches it and breaks the tires loose at close to 100 mph when he turns and looks at me and says to me, I hate to say this Joe, but I think this thing is faster than mine.
God, these were fun motors and after watching that video, I wished I had kept at least one.

More 427 action, this one starts a little slow because of the pace car lap, but watch the rear view mirror once the hammer drops @ 4:34... the Corvettes disappear and that damn glovebox just hates the torque of that sideoiler....

This Holman Moody "FE" 427 Mustang scores Pole Position and wins Race at Portland Historic Races Corvette Anniversary...talk about pissing vette owners off, lol'

It's kind of comical watching the extremely rare (only one of 3 built) 427 aluminum block 500 hp ZL-1 Vette nipping at it's ankles like a pesky chihuahua until the Holman & Moody Stang hits the straight and starts shifting that close-ratio Toploader at 7k+!
