Some Canadiana history.  Tim Horton was a star in the National Hockey League, back then they were not paid big money so the team owner Conn Smythe hired players to work for his sand and gravel company.  Here is Tim driving for them.  I love the picture that has the green light mounted on the LH mirror, up here they did that so an oncoming truck knew your width on 2-lane roads. 

If you want to go down the rabbit hole, google Conn Smythe and read his story, war hero, NY Rangers coach, Toronto Maple Leaf owner and more.  Tim went on and opened a donut shop with a policeman, after Tim was killed trying to out run the police in his DeTomaso Pantera the partner expanded and they have over 5,700 locations and owned/owns Wendy's, Burger King, Popeyes, Firehouse Subs.

My first 10 years on this earth, I lived next door to the "corner grocery store" in Waltham, Mass. As most, apartment over the store for the owners.

I'm guessing that the photo was taken in New Orleans La. based on the Luzianne Coffee Sign and Dixie Baking on Magazine Street.

I always liked those 1972 Torinos, first year of the all new Torino, which was a full framed car, with coil springs all around, compared to the previous unibody with those damn front shock towers. Especially liked the 72 Gran Torino Sport, with its cool looking hood scoop. Unfortunately, the following year, 1973, brought the huge, ugly, battering ram bumpers, which killed the sleek look and made the cars that much longer. My father bought a 72 Torino 2 door, albeit, it was the base model with the 1 piece gray plastic grille, and a 2 barrel 302 V8. But at least it WAS a V8! My Dad was not a "car guy" at all, and considered a car just a "necessary evil" means to get to work and run errands. When I got my drivers license in 1973, I had to use the family`s "2nd car", for my road test, our 66 Chevy Biscayne 4 door sedan, with a 230 cube 6 cylinder, Powerglide 2 speed automatic, and manual steering and brakes. I could just imagine the typical Millennial trying to parallel park that car today!

  My dad used to have a 1972 Ranchero GT. Yellow, black interior, 351 Cleveland...went pretty good for 4000 lbs. smogger. I remember driving in San Francisco in the same area where they filmed Bullitt. Going through the steep, hilly intersections the rear trailer hitch it had on it would really drag into the asphalt. No, I wasn't trying to get any airtime either.
