Wow! Thanks for the great info& pix, Joe. That '64 Fairlane has a great pedigree & lives up to it by being is even more badass than it looks. It really does look killer but I'd never have guessed that it was all that.

That 59 Thunderbird looked wild going around those curves.  Looked like most of the time it was going sideways  .   I even think that I saw the left front wheel come off the ground a couple of times.  Thanks for the great pictures.   That guy sure kept it under control.  It's too bad that the tail pipe hanger let loose.

Jay, the guy driving the T-Bird was Tom Kristensen, aka "Mr Le Mans".

You can see Kristensen hustle the Holman Moody-built '64 Fairlane Thunderbolt, (posts 644 & 657), around that track in the vid linked below. He started dead last in 29th place & won this race. And he only had one lap of practice!
If you scroll ahead to about the 7 minute mark you can see him going after one of the '63 galaxies.

Great stuff & a great driver. I loved that vid with the T-Bird too.

   I looked at the video and he did come  up from behind and got right up front and won the race.  That was some amazing driving.

The truck ain't bad either. I often wondered how many cars got messed up during a photo shoot with models. Guess most of them were probably 5'2" and 105#, so maybe not too many.
Great stance on that Ranchero.
