When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

how could they drive them that hard with a solid rear axle ? frt. pssgr wheel in the air.

Seems I recall they had IRS. My ERA 427SC replica has a Jag IRS.

A Volkswagen if you don't mind, and there's a 57 in the pic as well  :003:

An edited version a '57 Ford pic that was deleted ... for some strange reason.  :002:
She sure looks proud and happy standing there in the street.  Wish I knew the story behind this pic.
I sent this back to the guy that posted the unedited version but he wouldn't post this one.
Said he was in enough trouble already.
ps: I am not the sheriff here, just used the badge pic for our purposes.

Cobra had IRS with a Salisbury 4HU  (Dana) center housing like Jaguar. The reason they tended to lift the wheels while cornering I think was because of the  ladder style tubular chassis. The small-block cars used 3" tubes while the 427's used 4" rails.

In this 1955 pic, kids from NY/NJ were picked up at the closest VT RR station in this truck and driven to summer camp in VT.

Another pic of how things have changed over the years and kinda sneaked up on us without thinking about it. Nowadays if a truckload of kids like that was going down the road, the driver would probably end up in jail for endangering minors.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

1959!  The 50 won this race, C Gas because it was an old FBI Interceptor car.  Ugly as hell but would beat all the local flatheads.  Next race was a 322 nailhead powered 49 Merc.  It beat me easily starting in 2nd gear, broke 1st earlier.
