I don't remember George Black at either of those addresses, only the Lougheed Highway store.
This is how my father would send my brothers and me to bring trucks out from Oakville, Ontario.
My brothers were in the 18 - 20 year old range here, second load in the background.
I did my first solo trip back when I was 16, had my license for three months, 2,700 Miles.  Still playing with trucks.

WOW! Can you imagine the grief they would take today for pulling in to the creek to was their car? And hope he doesn't step back to admire the finished product! Could be a major OOPs!

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

A friend of mine used '57 Ford driveshafts from his header mufflers out to the rear for a fantastic sound !

Did the oem exhaust hug the frame like that??? and are those the almost never talked about resonators that were added to the back end of the exhaust. I'm still not sure what resonators do. I've heard some say they were to add additional "quiet" to the exhaust, but I remember as a kid we use to talk of them adding a little deep rumble, as the name would apply. Does anybody use them nowadays?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

I had a 1958 Edsel wagon and the exhaust was the same as the photo. Only difference was it was single exhaust on the left side. I have a friend who owned a Midas muffler who had all the bending cards for older cars. He would take a stick of muffler tube and a felt pen, follow the bending card angles and like magic the exhaust pipe would hug the frame just like the photo.

My Courier that I am working on now had only resonators on it...no mufflers. I did it on purpose. Had a nice mellow rumble to it if I was "polite" with the gas pedal, but, if I stood on it could get real authoritative real quick. That was with a 352 in it. I'd use them again.

I built some fenderwell exit headers for my '56 with an FE.  I used the canisters from the replaceable oil filters, as collectors.

It seems funny now what we did in the 60's because we were Hot Rodding with no money.  Now, I would only consider using V-Band clamps, Stainless tubing, ceramic coating, etc.  I think I had less money in the entire car (a nice car) than the parts required to build an exhaust system today.

Would that mean we are getting more particular? More sophisticated? Or just less innovative? LOL!!! Or perhaps...that we are more willing to spend money now...that we didn't have then!

You should never put rocks in a hubcap.  Always do three hub caps, after the third stop they will take all four caps off.  We used to have a RCMP officer who would park his car at the gas station, walk down the three blocks of Main Street and check doors.  We would do his caps and then go to the other end of Main to watch him come down and stop, take one cap off and unload the rocks, then drive about 100 feet repeat, drive another 100 feet and take the last two off.
We would sit on this hill to watch him coming towards us.
Oh to have those days back.

I just want to know which one of those urchins was Dave!   :003:

Those were good days to be sure. Bet part was if you were caught, it usually meant some sever punishment like washing the patrol car or some other menial task.
Today...poor kids get hauled off to jail, booked, then have to go before a judge. Society has lost it's sense of humor.
