Saw a couple of races there when it was still a dirt track. Sadly, there hasn't been a racetrack in Anchorage itself since the mid 1960s.

So I always thought that the guys that loaded and unloaded those cars had to be dare devils! What size of motor would have been in the newer tractors ? I think the older ones would have 292s, correct?

Most of the 50s big Fords that I remember in yards in the early 60s, dump trucks and busses, had 6 bangers in them.  Reason I was in those yards back then was looking for Oldsmobile engines.  International used the Olds engines in a lot of HD trucks and they were much "stouter" than the passenger car equivalent.  They were a bolt-in replacement for the passenger version.  Just needed to add a 4bbl.

Found it I interesting that Shelby called the 68 a Cobra GT, Mustang not mentioned in the car name.
