Darn good question.  My intent is to talk to Jim, find out where the engine is, to take pictures so the good folks here can help me identify it...and then, if it's what I hope, to have Jim bring it over so I can rebuild it.  He' already promised a hoist and an engine stand for that purpose, so we'll see where it goes.

I do want that engine.

Did you state that there is an engine in the car now and the other one was a spare.  Maybe if you post a picture of what's in it, we could give you come guidance.  If you do get the spare engine, you should post a picture of that also.  It would  save you a lot of headaches if the spare is the same type engine.   That way you would not have to worry about getting another transmission.
Don't forget that whatever you need to do to a 57 Ford  has been done already by a member on this site and they are always willing to share information with you.

Thanks so much, Jay.  I will be going down tomorrow to take more pictures.  Is there any area that you would like to see more of?  For example, I haven't seen anything like a downdraft tube on the current engine.  I'm a newbie here, so thank you all for what you can pass along.

I do intend to know every nut and bolt on this car.

Cecil, the road draft tube should be by the fuel pump. If there is NO hole in the block for it you have a 62-64 block..

We have a lot of previous members who are going gangbusters, then just disappear. There are at least a half dozen guys I'd like to hear from......57 Imposter, Raven Rider, and Canadian Ranchero to name a few. I think one of our current Canadian members was from Canadian Ranchero's area.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Does anyone know what happened to Cecil?  Did he ever get the spare engine?  What type engine is it?
What model 57 does he have?   WOW!

Good news, now go pull the back seat and see what the son had hidden there.
