My 1970 429 SCJ 4-speed Ranchero. Another I wished I'd never sold. Picture was taken at Bremerton Raceway in around 1985.

Randy, that shot must have been in 1988 or possibly 89, at , I assume the Bremerton ''All Ford Drags''. Thats the rear of my Fairmont in the top of this photo, and I only raced it with its factory redish brown paint for a couple of years before its was painted blue in late 1989. In 1985, I would have raced my Pastel Blue 428CJ 4 speed Mach 1, in 86, my black 69 428CJ auto Mach 1.(sure wish I still both of those cars today!).

I do remember your blue Mach 1 but not your Fairmont. I guess I must have gone twice to that event. To bad they don't hold the Ford drags anymore, or even the Ford only race at Mission was fun to Attend.

Randy, in all these years, you never seen my Fairmont? I have been racing the same Fairmont since 1988, after buying it in 86. It's been at all the Mission Mega Ford races. and every 2 day Bremerton All Ford Drags since 88.

I've seen your Fairmont lots of times I just don't ever remember it being red. Funny, one of my favorite cars at Bremerton was a 69-70 Mercury Colony Park wagon. Green with the faux woodgrain siding. Pretty healthy 460 in it and I think it ran high 12's low 13's which is respectable for 5000+ lbs. barge.

Yes, the original paint on my Fairmont was a reddish brown, almost like shiny primer, but I had it painted blue in late 1989. The 69 Colony Park Mercury wagon belonged to Steve Lockie from Washington. I think its best ETs were in the 12.6s , on street tires, with all the A/C, PS etc belts hooked up, very impressive, especially over 30 years ago. I seemed to recall it weighed over 5200 pounds, and I remember him making a by run, and hearing the tires bark on the 2nd to drive shift. A buddy from Vancouver Island bought the wagon in the early 90s, and they put the wagons engine in a 69 Mustang, don`t know whatever became of the wagon after that. Kinda a shame, that wagon was very clean, and a great sleeper.

No idea why the photo of the wagon is on its side, but if you click on the photo, it is correct. Here's a shot of my Fairmont, also at SIR, when it still has it's factory colour.

kind of an odd thing...'69 BOSS 9s had the fake side scoops...'69 BOSS 302 and '70 Sport Roof models had no scoops

That idiot Knudsen was to blame. He didn't like the scoops. But then...he was a bow-tie guy to begin with...so...there is a question as to his upper end content.

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Actually, my understanding is that is was Larry Shinoda, not Knudsen that wanted the dummy scoops removed on the 69 Boss 302 Mustangs. Supposedly he did not like non functional items on a car. No idea why he allowed them to stay on the Boss 429, and every other Mustang fastback for 69. In 70, no Mustangs had the dummy scoops on the 1/4 panels, but every 70 Mustang body style did get 2 small dummy scoops per side,on the outside of the headlights. The 69/70 Shelby Mustangs must have really bothered Shinoda, they had more scoops than a Baskin Robbins store, with nearly all of them non functional !
