NM highways have been putrid for as long as I can remember going back to when I was a kid in Texas and my parents would drive us to L.A. to visit my grandparents.
I drove through on my move with me boat trailer and boat. I-40 beat my trailer to pieces and I nearly lost the boat. I had to go to O'Reilly's and by some more ratchet cargo straps and literally wrap them around the boat and trailer in order to get it home to Shell Knob.

I would definitely agree! But the real reason in my opinion is the nature of the sub-strait. Both southern Louisiana and coastal south Texas are on alluvial plains and the nature of the ground is poor load bearing and shifting in nature. Down here for example even homes are often built on pilings driven tens of feet into the ground just to support the structure at grade. Technology has improved providing more stable roads but it has been slow in coming and expensive to adopt. It is the nature of these places.

I miss the days when we could enjoy such pics for the shop walls. Today P/C has ruined everything.

In the mid '90s, I got wrote up and a letter put in my permanent employment jacket.  Someone was offended by my Snap On coffee cup with a model with more clothes than that calendar.  To this day it makes me hesitate where I'm going if I'm wearing a vintage Vargas shirt.

hi GARY,  AN WHERE DID YOU WORK?

gasman826

Not far from you at the GM Engine Plant on Ecorse Road, Romulus.

Went for an autumn cruise and saw this 4-door in a parking lot.  The old girl driving it did not know if it was a V-8 or a 6, said she had been driving it daily for a few years.  Dual exhaust lends to the Y-Block.  I liked it because my initials were on the plate.

Looks pretty decent for almost 60 years. Wonder if that it the original paint? Winters can be rough on cars there. Must have been garaged most of its life.

At the pin stripers.  Not my car, but it is local.  223 / Automatic.  I did look at it about 6 years ago but did not buy it.

Westwood Mountain High Race Track was the local road race facility just outside Vancouver.  Many top names raced here over the years.  Found these online yesterday.  The GT-40 was driven by Eppie Wietzes  and the open car looks like Jim Hall's Chapperall.

Chip Foose just built one of the prettiest cars I've ever seen. A '56 Continental Mark Vi. He made it a convertible, and also did some modest looking but major changes to the body. Then he totally screwed it up y putting an LS motor in it. WTH???
