Never could get my hands on a '56 Vicky. : (
I'd love one that looked like this.

   Back in the late 50 s ' and early 60 s'  I drove a 56 Ford.  I think that the dealer saw me coming because the car was very defective.  They charged  me $200. for it.  For some strange reason it blew up 36 transmissions  ( Yes I was keeping track)  I always had to carry a spare one in my trunk when I went out. Usually I had to change it so i could drive home.
    I found a 56 Mercury and took the Borg Warner T85 out of it and installed it in my 56 Ford and never blew up another transmission in that car.      That's how I learned how to  build transmissions because I didn't always have $25. to pay for another one in the junkyard.
     I always liked 56 Fords, but really wanted a 57 custom and for years had to settle for 58 Fords.  Didn't get my 57 Custom until
very much later in life and when I did get it, it was on the back burner for 15 to 20 years until I got around to fixing it up.

I think I still have a T-85 in my shop. Used to run one in my Brown '57 behind the 352. Have to say...I was NOT a kind owner. Bet I blew 1/2 a dozen of them. LOL!!! They were up to $35 by the early 70's!

mustang6984  Your 57 with the FE had a lot more oomph than the little 1954 (239)  that I put in my 56 Ford after the original 292 in my 1956 Ford dropped kinda dropped dead .   In my day you would have been a hero to blow up a T85.

Ah...I like the idea of being a hero! LOL!!! If memory serves...the one I have is still in functional condition. I just need to remember where it is. HHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhmmmmmmm...

       After this very scientific discussion about T85 transmissions, now you know that it will be OK if you take your Rancharrow out and smack a few speed shifts like a teenager  It takes an FE engine to blow up a T85.  .  Jay

thea 'dozer......the a pillar seems to be about a foot from the b pillar, and is that the dozer's blade at the back seat on the passenger side?..................with that said, it looks like the wagon pushed the dozer part way into the building. That wasn't no 25 mph accident.

Just like you back in the 60's I blew countless 3 speeds until I installed a T85. So a T85 was a top priority for the Rancharrow. I feel blessed that I was able to find one and love the OD..

My bet is the local hooligans got the dozer started in gear and did not know how to shut it off.  Left in reverse it motored over top of the wagon.  Check the lack of tire marks on the wagon.. History does repeat itself, just ask my buddies Gary, Oscar and Dale who started a dozer, jumped off before it hit the new high school that was under construction.

Actually Jim.....I remember when you were waiting for that T85 and the guy was taking his good sweet time taking it out of
the donor vehicle.  You paid your dues waiting for him,  and there "ain't no way" that you are going to be beating on it.
